Library Data

Collecting and analyzing data about libraries and their future .
Steady Growth in Public Library FTE
It’s worth comparing this to a similar set of data for academic libraries. First off note that the total number of FTE employed by public libraries has been continuously growing throughout the 2000s. A great example of not letting anecdote get dominate your judgement. With all you hear about hardships in public libraries it’s easy to imagine that the data will tell a very different story than it does. Also worth nothing is that, for the most part, support staff and librarians in libraries have been increasing at the same rate, which is very different than academic libraries.
